Hillel Yeshiva's Seventh Grade students proudly present our annual Jewish Heritage Fair, “The Mystery of our History.” The seventh grade students at Hillel Yeshiva have been exploring the mystery of their families' history. They have learned about their families' journeys to America, their ancestors' lives in Europe, Asia or Africa, and the Jewish lives they established for themselves once they arrived in the United States. They each brought in an artifact and learned about the importance of it to their families. They were able to understand their individual family stories and the larger Jewish story and thus, these stories are no longer a mystery.

Students learned procedures for identifying, describing, researching, categorizing and displaying artifacts. They applied what they learned to their own families' treasured artifacts, and the results are what you see here in this catalog. Each artifact tells an interesting story about something precious in the lives of grandparents or great grandparents. With this catalog we can preserve and continue to enjoy the stories and photographs of our community's heirlooms.

I thank the seventh grade students, whose interest in their heritage and desire to learn and share family stories made this a memorable experience for all involved. Thanks to their parents and grandparents who provided the interesting histories of the artifacts.
