"SHORASHIM"
Hillel Yeshiva

January 6, 2016

The seventh grade students at Hillel Yeshiva learned about their families' journeys to America, their ancestors' lives in Europe, Asia or Africa, and the Jewish lives they established for themselves once they arrived in the United States. To prepare for this exhibition the students researched their family's Jewish roots, learning more about their family's stories. They discovered that their individual family stories are part of the larger Jewish story, the history of our people. The artifacts and heirlooms that represent various stages in the Jewish journeys of our ancestors are treasured by their families. They continue to strengthen the ties we have to our "shorashim," recognizing that those who have come before us help to shape who we are today.
