Judaism is all about light. We usher in Shabbat and Yom Tov with light, bid farewell to these special days with light, celebrate Chanukah with light and remember a loved one who has passed on with light. Our precious Torah and its mitzvot are compared to light, and we are charged with a mission to be a "light unto the nations". After exploring many Jewish items and symbols of light, we have embarked on journeys of finding personal artifacts that tell stories of light. The articles in this gallery point to the courage, strength and hope of our ancestors. We have resolved to learn all we can about the past and then to charge forward with pride, with purpose and with light. |
