Shalshelet: Our Unbroken Chain
Temple Beth Abraham Religious School
Grade, 6, (Sunday)
NY, USA
March 13, 2011
This is our 2nd Annual Living Museum exhibition at Temple Beth Abraham. We began by visiting the Museum of Jewish Heritage. The students had a class led by wonderful volunteer docents where they learned how to accept, identify, describe, photograph, research, categorize, credit, catalog and display objects. Following this visit the students brought their own precious family objects in to be photographed. Then they cataloged them, and in conversations with their family learned about their history, and the significance of the artifact to their family. The results are now live on the Museum website. It is our pleasure to be able to exhibit them for you to enjoy. It is our hope that our students will continue to explore their family history and traditions through heirlooms, and continue to be strong links in the 'shalshelet' (chain of generations) stretching back to time immemorial. |
