This artifact belonged to my great-grandmother. It was probably a wedding gift and was used for special dinner parties.
My great-grandparents were married a few months before the Great Depression. Items such as this napkin must have been scarce during the Depression.
The artifact was purchased in Fez, Morocco by my grandmother Esther Crespil. She gave it to my mother as one of her wedding presents. The artifact is about half a century old.
This artifact is significant to Jewish heritage since it has been passed down from a time when Jews were restricted from practicing their religion. That is why I find it extremely important. Although they weren't allowed to practice the Jewish religion they still used it. It symbolizes the Jews’ strong beliefs, as well as their persistence to keep their religion.
