Ashley F brought this ring for the 2018 Moriah School Heritage Fair. This ring once belonged to Ashley F’s maternal great- great grandfather. Her great-great grandfather wore this ring everyday of his life and it was very important to him. Ashley F’s great- great grandfather got this wedding ring in Los Angeles, California after he got married. When he died, Ashley F’s grandfather inherited the ring. Ashley F’s grandfather got the ring because her great- great grandfather had no sons and one grandson which was her grandfather. The F family has kept the ring because it was the only thing that had value when he died. Today, Ashley F’s great-great grandfather’s ring is locked in a safe.

Kayla E. brought this necklace for the 2018 Moriah School Heritage Fair. This necklace once belonged to Kayla E.'s maternal great-great grandmother, Malka. This object is from Budapest, Hungary circa 1935 and is over 80 years old. Nechemia, Malka’s son, buried this necklace and other jewelery, in his non-Jewish friend’s backyard before World War ll. He retrieved this necklace after the Holocaust. When he married his wife, Sarah, Kayla’s great grandmother, he gave this necklace to her. It was then passed down to Kayla’s grandmother and mother, who then gifted it to Kayla. It has been in Kayla’s family for five generations, and hopefully will be in her family for many generations to come.

Wolf G. brought a gold Chai necklace for the 2018 Moriah School Heritage Fair. Wolf’s great grandfather, named Wolf, handmade this gold object after he survived the Holocaust. He created it in Israel in 1948. This necklace was passed down after Mr. G passed away to his son, Wolf’s grandfather, Irving G. Then, it was given to Yossi G., and will soon be passed down to Wolf. After Wolf’s great grandfather handmade this necklace, he became a jeweler. Wolf’s family has kept this necklace to remember that their family once survived such a terrible tragedy.

Max L. brought this necklace for the 2018 Moriah School Heritage Fair. This necklace once belonged to Max L's paternal great-great grandmother. In the year 1928, Max L’s great-great grandfather got his wife this necklace. Later on, in the year 1942, Max L's great-great grandparents ran out of money and sold the necklace. After World War II, in the year 1947, the man who bought the necklace returned it to Max L's great great grandmother.

Roni H. brought this engagement ring for the 2018 Moriah School Heritage Fair. This engagement ring belonged to Roni’s great grandfather Benci Mark and great grandmother Perla Mark. Although they are both thankfully alive, they gave it to Rachel Mark H. a few years ago. This ring is from Pardes Chana, Israel, in 1950. This ring was used by Benci M. to propose to Perla, which created a long lasting and ongoing marriage. Benci met Perla in Israel after surviving the Holocaust and fighting in the Israel War of Independence. Ben is now 97 years old and Perla is 89. They have been married for 68 years.

James D brought this ring for the 2018 Moriah School Heritage Fair.This ring once belonged to James D maternal step-great grandmother. James Dyckman’s grandfather, Larry F's parents died when he was 15. A woman named G, who attended his shul, took Larry in to live with her family. Grandma G gave James’ mother, Allison, this ring, so his mother could always remember her. Grandma G was a really kind and very important person in Allison’s life. Grandma Gertrude will always be remembered as the person who saved James’ grandfather's life.

Michele B brought these bangles for the 2018 Moriah School Heritage Fair. These gold bangles were given to Michele B from her great grandmother. They were passed down to her grandmother and then inherited by her mother who gave them to Michele. The bangles were from Morocco where her grandmother was born. She gave them to Michele’s grandmother when she got married, and when her mother got engaged it was a gift to her as well. Michele’s bat mitzvah is coming up and she received these valuable bracelets for her gift from her great grandmother. These bangles are very significant in the B family because it shows how much Michele’s great grandmother loves and cares for her traditional background and heritage.

Madan H brought this necklace for the 2018 Moriah School Heritage Fair. This necklace once belonged to Madan H’s paternal grandfather, Murray H whom she was named after. Murray got it from his wife, Roz, who bought it for him in New York in the 1960’s. Fifteen years ago, Murray passed away, and since then Roz has worn it. When Madan was little, she used to say to her grandmother that she liked the necklace when she visited her. In 2017, Roz gave Madan the necklace for her Bat Mitzvah.
