The two adults represent my great grandfather and great grandmother coming here on the Olympic, the sister ship of the Titanic.
Great Grandmother's Adler Sewing Machine
West Germany
My great grandmother gave this Adler sewing machine to her daughter to play with, my grandmother. My grandmother gave it to my mother to play with when she was a child. My mother then handed this very small sewing machine to me and I have enjoyed playing with it as well. We believe the inventor of this sewing machine was Jewish. He started his company in Russia and then after World War II he moved his company to West Germany. They exported their products to the United States. My grandmother told me that my great grandmother and Mr. Adler were friends.
It was given to my great grandmother in Russia as a gift when she was a child. My great grandmother Bertha immigrated to the United States when she was a teenager and brought this sewing machine with her.
