The necklace was bought in Israel in 1980. Heath's mother went to Israel as four generations (great-grandma, grandma, mom and 3 sisters- maternal) for heath's aunt's bat mitzvah, when his mother was 11 years old.

Lauren's Grandfather has passed away and it belonged to him. It is important to my family because it makes us think of him and how we wish he was still with us.
Lauren's grandfather fought in World War II. He freed the Jews. He built temporary bridges to get supplies to soldiers. He checked bombs to make sure they wouldn't hurt soldiers.

Depicting the open right hand, an image recognized and used as a sign of protection in many societies throughout history, the hamsa is believed to provide defense against the evil eye.

It was purchased by my grandparents on a trip to Israel in the mid-1980s. One of the oldest symbols of the Jewish faith is this type of menorah, a seven-branched candelabrum. My grandparents gave it to my mother as a gift from their trip.
It is a very important to us because of it's relevance to Israel and Judaism.
