Molly K received these pieces of jewelry from her maternal great grandmother. Molly K’s maternal great grandmother, Mollie T, bought these pieces of jewelry in the 1940’s. These pieces of jewelry have been passed down for three generations. Molly K is named after Mollie Topp. The jewelry reminds the K family of their great grandmother. The necklace has colorful beads which reminds Molly and her family of Mollie T’s personality. The pin says MRT, which were her initials, Malka Raizel T. The other necklace is large Hebrew letter “tet” and the name Malka because that was her Hebrew name.
These pieces of jewelry are important to the K family.

Matan S. received this pocket watch from his maternal grandparents. Matan S. maternal great grandfather, David H bought this pocket watch when he moved to New York after surviving the Holocaust.
This pocket watch is important to the H family because it shows perseverance and braveness of surviving the Holocaust.

Hilde Z received this pin in a package from her mother, Yehudit W. She received it in 1938, after she escaped from Vienna, Austria, to London with her husband, Benjamin Z. She needed to escape from Hitler and World War II. A Swiss diplomat carried the pin on him until he got to Switzerland, where he mailed it to London. When it arrived at the post office in London, she was called to come pick up a package. When Hilde arrived at the post office, the woman who worked there opened the package and said: “Congratulations, you got your jewelry out.” Hilde responded: “I will give the whole package, if you get my parents out.” Hilde’s father, Yehuda W, died of starvation in the Lodz Ghetto in Poland in July 1942, and her mother was taken to the death camp of Chelmno, Poland. Yehudit died on the first day of Rosh Hashanah of 1942. This pin and a pair of diamond earrings were the only thing left from her. The Z family will cherish this pin for many generations.

Carly R. received this pocket watch from her paternal great grandfather. Carly R.’s paternal great grandfather Leo P., bought this watch in Austria and it was one of his most prized possessions. Leo P. bought his prized possession so he would never be late to work in the 1930s. The watch was his prized possession because Leo owned his own business and wanted to be on time.This watch was made in Switzerland and Leo P. bought this watch as a sign of success when he came to America.

Omer R Family received this necklace from his maternal grandfather. Omer Rosen’s maternal grandfather, Eliazer Olenik , bought this object when he first arrived in Israel after the Holocaust. He gave this object to Omer at his briss. This was Omer’s grandfather’s first Star of David that he wore in freedom. This necklace is important to the Rosen lenik families.

Coby K received this golden bracelet from his maternal great-great grandmother, Caroline S. Naftali S, Caroline’s son, held it in the heel of his shoe throughout the Holocaust. The bracelet is displayed in Coby’s home. Coby’s great grandfather Naftali S lived in Poland, and he was a Holocaust survivor. The K and S families have learned many stories from this object.
