Religious Attire
You wear a kippah, tefillin and a tallit when you pray. For all three of these examples of religious attire the center of gravity is on the upper body. They each are placed on a different part of the body; the tallit hangs on the neck, the kippah goes on the heard, and tefillin go on your arm and forehead.
Tallit

Peter P.
My dad used it for his bar mitzvah and my brothers used it for their b'nai mitzvah and I'm going to use it for my bar mitzvah and so on.

Tefillin

My great great grandfather Zeidi (Louis K.)
My great great grandfather, Zeidi, lived in the Ukraine. It was very dangerous if you were a Jew at that time so he moved to America and changed his name from Zeidi to Louis K. He had the tefillin that he brought from the Ukraine with him and passed it down.
It is important because it reminds me of the past generations and since I have the artifact it makes me feel connected to my great great grandfather.
Yarmulke

My sister (Maggie L.)
My artifact is a yarmulke made because of my sister's bat mitzvah. The yarmulke is supposed to help you remember the bat mitzvah.
This is special to my family because it is a sign that my sister is past her bat mitzvah. Every time I use the yarmulke I think of my sister's bat mitzvah.
Tallit

Father
I feel special that I have this tallit because my father and brother have used it. I will wear it on my bar mitzvah day.
A lot of Jewish people wear a tallit in temple and I am Jewish so I will feel very connected to my heritage when I wear it.
