Army Memorabilia
These objects are about or were in a war. The book describes the war, while the hat is an artifact literally from the battlefield. Both of these artifacts tell stories of war. Each represents, winning, losing, blood, loss and pain.
Navy Cap

This hat was from when my grandfather worked as a dentist in the Navy around 1920. The hat was ripped over time, but not because he was in the Navy.
This is one of the few artifacts that we have from my grandfather (besides pictures). I think that it shows bravery in our family.

Dan S.
Morris was born in 1910 in Cochrane, Ontario, Canada. He was living in the United States when it entered WWII. He had a job as a rabbi at the time so he joined the army as a chaplain. He was doing that until the war was over in 1945. He then returned to being a rabbi. He wrote a memoir of his experiences in the army. He gave a copy of the book to his oldest grandson, Dan, in 1978. This book is significant to my family because it is a memoir by my great-grandfather.
It tells of Jewish soldiers who fought against the Nazis.
