Ritual and Ceremonial Objects
These objects are used for ceremonies and rituals. They are very special to our families because they were used by previous generations for important occasions.
Megilat Esther
unknown origin
Our Family
My father's father was given many Jewish items by his rabbi because the rabbi knew he was going to become a rabbi. The Megilat Esther was one of them. My grandfather handed it down to my dad and now it is our family's.
It's very old and its been passed down by so many people. Also, it was my grandfather's who I had never met.
Great Grandma Anita's Shabbat Candlesticks
unknown
Grandma
When my grandma was a child, she would light Shabbat candles with her mom, my GG (great grandma) Anita. These candlesticks may have even belonged to her mother, Frieda (who was my father's great grandmother).
We now use them on Shabbat when our family lights Shabbat candles on Friday night, and it keeps our heritage a part of us.
Siddur
unknown origin
My father, Claude
This Siddur was given to my father on the occasion of his Bar Mitzvah in 1981.
Now that we have identified and re-located the siddur, we will use it as our family siddur.
