Rayna's Samovar
Unknown
My Grandma and Grandpa got this samovar in New Brunswick, NJ at an antique store. They brought it for decorative purposes and it reminded them of their European ancestors.
It reminds us of our Grandma and Grandpa and about the immigrants who brought different samovars on their trip to America.
Hallie's Chanukkiah
Israel
This channukiah is from my Great Grandma Renee. She gave this channukiah to my family before she died. She used to put it up every Hanukkah at her house. I put it up every year at my house. It reminds my family of my Great Grandma and it means I'm Jewish.
The Channukiah is used to light every Hanukkah night. You put it in your window to show you are Jewish and that you are proud that your Jewish.
Zachary's Star of David
?
Grandpa
This artifact is important to my family because when my grandpa died I got to keep the necklace. He had another one, but my cousin (his grandson) wanted it for his bar mitzva. He gave it to him and bought this one, the one that I have now. It is important to me because I no longer have my grandpa. Whenever I have the necklace I feel like I still have him with me.
It is significant to the Jewish Community because the necklace has the Star of David on it. It also has a Chai in the Star of David. A Chai means life. That is how the necklace connects to the Jewish community.
