Immigration to America
The following gallery contains items that were used in students families, during the process of immigrating to America.
Money
Russia
Great Great Grandmother (Maternal)
My object is Russian money. My great great grandmother brought it back from Russia as a momento. It is brown, wrinkled, and worn out. It is much bigger than a normal sized dollar bill.
My artifact is special to me because it is the only thing I have that she brought back from Russia. It was used for buying things. It’s just like regular money, just different in size and color, and everything is written on it in Russian.
Passport
Germany
Great Grandparents
These are the original passports of my dad’s grandparents, my great grandparents. These passports are dated from April 27, 1936 from Germany.
My grandma was three years old when her parents left Germany and came to Ellis Island in New York before the Holocaust.
