Precious Treasures
Camera
New York
Not long after AJ D\'s maternal grandfather, Martin came to America, he saved up enough money to buy a camera. Martin went to all the latest attractions taking pictures with his camera. When AJ D’s mother, Susie F, and aunt, Cheryl F were born, Martin took pictures of them. Long after that, Martin wanted to throw the camera away, but Susie thought it was unique and kept it until today. The camera was originally bought in New York, but now is kept in New Jersey.
AJ is happy that the family has kept it all these years.
Coins
Far Rockaway, New York
Jordyn F\'s paternal great- grandfather was a devoted coin collecter. When he died, his grandchildren each received a set of coins. Jordy F\'s family kept these coins because they were something that her great grandfather loved. They are made of silver. Some of the coins are one dollar, some are half dollars, and the rest are nickles and quarters. The coins are dated from 1974, so Jordy researched historical events from that year. She learned about President Nixon who was the first president forced to resign. She also researched the Sears Tower in Chicago, which became the world’s tallest building.
These coins are special to the family and will be passed down for generations to come.
Handball Championship
Brooklyn, New York
When Rafi J\'s paternal grandfather was in high school, he was able to lead his handball team to victory and win the first place ribbon. In 1952 in Brooklyn, New York, Bobby J was the captain of his handball team when they won the city championship. This was a very prestigious award because there was only one team who won this award in the entire New York City.
This object has been in the family for almost sixty years and is something the family have tried to keep in pristine condition because it is so special to the family.
Cigar Kit
Australia
Sammy T’s paternal great- grandfather, William T, purchased a cigar lighter and a knife circa 1937. He purchased these two items because when he was young, he smoked a lot. These two objects were made out of metal and silver and were manufactured in Australia. The lighter was one of the first lighters ever made. These two objects are rusty because they were made before World War II.
These two objects are very important to Sammy T’s family because they are the only things that they have from Sammy T’s great-grandfather, William T.
Ship
Mauritius
When David L\'s parents went on their honeymoon, they bought this boat. While visiting Mauritius on their honeymoon, David\'s parents passed a store that had been making handmade boats. When David’s father was a boy, he tried, with his brother, to build a model of a boat, but failed. Therefore, David\'s father wanted to buy this boat. So they bought the boat and the boat is kept on the Lifschitz family object\'s table. This boat reminds David and his family about David\'s parents’ honeymoon. Also, every time David’s parents go somewhere, they get something special.
This was the first object David’s parents purchased together.
