Special Items
We have some very interesting items in this gallery.
Some of these are closely connected to individual family histories.
Another is special to a sports enthusiast.
We are delighted to have them in our exhibit.
Stacking Doll
Russia
Mom
My mom grow up in Russia and she couldn\'t
say that she was Jewish so when she left she brought the stacking doll to America to remember Russia.
There are Jews all over the world. Although we may be from different cultures, we are all connected to each other and responsible for each other.
Letter
Russia
Great Aunt
My aunt was writing to her daughter saying that she was hiding in the attic of someone\'s house during the Holocaust.
She was also saying that not all people are bad and that she was trying to stay alive.
The Holocaust was a terrible time in Jewish history and the history of the world.
We must never forget what happened, because we want to make sure that it never happens again.
Jewish Star Necklace
Mpls.
Mom and Dad
This artifact is significant to me and means a lot to me. When I got to experience my sister\'s Bat Mitzvah, the Jewish religion began to mean more to me than it did before. I wear this Magen David to remind me that I am so proud to be Jewish.
The Star of David was on King David\'s shield, and it represents strength.I feel that sense of strength when I wear my necklace.
Medal
Israel
Grandfather, Paul
This medal is in memory of Yonatan Netanyahu. Yonatan was my grandfather\'s cousin. Yonatan was the commander of an elite commando unit. He was killed during a hostage rescue mission in Uganda. Every family member received a medal that honored him.
Israel is the homeland of the Jewish people. We are thankful for all the Israeli soldiers who have fought and continue to fight to defend our country. Yonatan died for his country and the Jewish people, and we are very grateful to him.
