Next Year in Jerusalem
The wish of all Jews, to return to the Holy Land.
Scroll and Carving
Warsaw, Poland
Marvin Price
My Great-Great Grandfather, Rabbi Katz was presented with this scroll upon his retirement from the shul located at 38 Nelbeky, Warsaw, Poland. It was his wish to relocate to the Holy Land, then known as Palestine, now as Israel so that upon his death he could be buried there.
The carving was handmade by my Great Uncle Macy in Rochester NY depicting Jews praying at the Western wall, with an inscription \"L\'shana Haba-a Birushalayim\", next year in Jerusalem. He made many Jewish Artifacts for family and friends including Menorahs.
Understanding how important it is to an observant Jew to be buried in Israel Rabbi Katz\'s congregation raised the money for him to fulfill his desire.
This scroll is evidence of our family\'s deep roots in Judaism and Europe.
The carving reflects every Jew\'s dream to immigrate to the Holy Land, and the words \"L\'shana haba-a Bi-rushalayim\" are said every year at Pesach at the end of the Seder. My Great-Great Grandfather, Rabbi Katz, was able to realize this dream.
