Life Cycle
These artifacts are special items with a lot of personal meaning.
Bar Mitzvah Siddur
Brooklyn, NY
Sydney M.
The significance of this siddur, which is opened to the page of my great grandfather Sydney\'s Torah portion, is that it keeps the memory alive of the special day in my family\'s history.
Having my great grandfather\'s siddur reinforces our Jewish family tradition of having a bar or bat mitzvah at age 13. Keeping the siddur framed in its original form, from 87 years ago, makes this artifact even more special than it already is.
Shabbos Lamp
Germany
Aunt Margie
This Shabbos lamp is from my great great grandma and grandpa and they passed it down to their son Henry (grandpa\'s dad) when they had to move out,`` one of the things they brought was the Shabbos Lamp.
This Shabbos lamp is important to Jewish heritage because every Friday before sundown you light it and it stays lit the whole shabbat.
