Thermometer
Chepachet, Rhode Island
Moses Rosenberg
This thermometer is from my great grandfather’s Bottled Gas Business. Moses Rosenberg, my great grandfather, came to America when he was four years old from Russia. He came here with nothing and, as an adult, built a very successful business in Chepachet, Rhode Island. Moses gave this thermometer to his customers at his bottled gas business.
The thermometer reminds me of my great grandfather’s incredible history. In the United States he was able to practice Judaism.
Jewish Star Necklace
Israel
Allison (Mom)
This Jewish star was bought by my great grandparents for my mom when she was born. It was bought around the 1960s and is made of gold and enamel, but the enamel wore off over the years. It is from Israel. The necklace is special to me because both of my great grandparents have passed away. I was fortunate enough to know my great grandmother and I was named after my great grandfather. My mom wore the star all the time until I was born, which was when she passed it down to me.
It is a symbol of my religion.
