Chopper/Photos

Grandparents
My family owned a boarding house in Spring Glen, NY where they cooked for hundreds of people, using the chopper to prepare meals. My great-great-grandparents owned the boarding house, and my great-grandmother grew up there. My great-grandmother met her husband there. I am named after my great-grandfather. My great-grandparents gave some of the land away so that a temple could be built.
This chopper is one of the very few things left that connects us to our family, pictured in the photos behind the chopper.

This is a photograph of my great-grandma Olga Taraykovich Sharko with her sister Anne Taraykovich Garelick and parents Mary and Rafael Taraykovich. They were Russian immigrants who lived on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
This is a picture of family whom I never knew, at a time when they were establishing their lives in the USA.
