My grandfather made this sculpture in Piestra Sienta, Italy for the twin towers that crashed and to commemorate the Holocaust. It now stays in the window of my grandfather's house in Treasure Island, Florida. It stands for an old man wearing tefillin and praying. My grandfather took sculpting after retirement and this is one of his major creations.
Although many Russians didn't like Jews my great great grandpa stayed behind in Russia. My great grandpa was a Zionist and migrated by walking to Israel where he met my great grandma in Turkey and married her in Israel. This watch is my family heirloom, it has been passed down through 4 generations. During the Korean War he had young children so my great great grandfather gave it to my great grand grandfather who gave it to my grandfather who gave it to my father.
