The significance of this artifact to my family is that it shows that my great-great-great grandfather was a good person in the community and helped out with the world and Hungary. He also, was a healthy man who survived the brutal trip to America.
It is significant to Jewish Heritage because he helped with Jewish happenings around his community. Also, he helped many people with tranlating letters to people because he was an expert at literature.

My great grandparents wanted to get married and the Nazis would not let them have a party, so they got married on Christmas while the Nazis were having a party. After that, they wanted to escape to anywhere, so, in the middle of the night, my great grandfather went to the person who permits people to leave where they were and made him sign the paper. He didn't have enough money to send his entire family to whereever they could go, so he sent everyone but himself more north of Germany. After he made enough money to join them, he went. The whole family was looking for a place to go, and a cruise line spot opened up, so they took it. My great grandparents celebrated their honeymoon on the cruise, and got to New York, and they were finally in the U.S.A.
It is a picture of my great grandparents' engagement and represents how hard they were willing to work for their relationship.
